What is a
Quibit ?!?
A
Quibit, or "
Q
", is a short-term,
focused intervention (a quick
burst ) designed to help the
child for whom ongoing,
one-on-one therapy may not be
necessary. Our team
has been very successful,
achieving outstanding outcomes
with our children who
participate in the
Q's.
Language Q (
Language for Learning® )
Language for Learning® provides
kindergarten and primary
school-aged children with the
knowledge and understanding of
language they need to achieve
proficiency and reading
comprehension. This oral
language program teaches
children the words, concepts,
and statements important to both
oral and written language, and
helps enable them to extend this
knowledge to other areas of
their development.
Articulation Q
Articulation interventions help
children learn correct placement
and production of age
appropriate sounds. The speech therapist
provides sound placement
instructions, intensive drill
work, and sound generalization
activities. Once children learn correct
placement and a home practice
program is implemented, progress
is quick and sound production
improves.
Reading Q
( Orton-Gillingham Reading
Remediation )
Reading Q
is a small-group workshop
designed specifically for
children with general reading
delays as well as those with
developmental delays and / or
dyslexia, leading to reading
difficulty. Reading
Q
is based upon the
Orton-Gillingham method of
reading instruction - a
clinically-proven approach in
children with even the most
challenging cases of dyslexia.
Handwriting Q
( Handwriting Without Tears® )
Handwriting Without Tears® is a
proven success in making legible
and fluent handwriting an easy
and automatic skill for
students. Our curriculum uses
hands-on, educationally sound
instructional methods to teach
handwriting.
Social
Skills Q
The Social Skills Q
is a small-group workshop
designed specifically for
children with high functioning
autism/Aspergers (or other mild
behavioral delays) to teach them
behavioral and social skills to
deal with and participate in a
variety of social settings.
